I'm doing a survey in one of my classes on how people would like to manage urban deer populations.

If you would like take the survey just send me a PM or reply in this thread and I will send you a PM with the survey. It should only take a few minutes to complete.

Thanks

Haha. I strongly believe in controlling the population. And I have hunted. Just can't bring myself to do it now. Personally. I encourage all of you who can to certainly do so though.

Interesting survey Chris... Lots of uniformed people out there, hopefully this can be used to educate them on this issue. People are all about non lethal methods until they realize the cost of them!

Had a 911 call once and the lady on the other end of the line told me a deer had just jumped in through the front window of my supervisors home in the middle of town. I could not help laughing during the call and told the caller we would take care of it. The deer augered around the living room a while and jumped out a side window causing quite a bit of damage. Terri (my supervisor) got a call from the original caller to complain that I laughed about it during the 911 call. She told the original caller it was okay and explained that I was a good dispatcher, it just struck me funny since it was her house. Terri told me she heard a lot of noise and came out in her jammies to find the deer standing in the living room. When it saw her, it jumped out the side window. Both windows were closed, so there was a lot of glass breakage.

Chris, I would like to take the test.

I probably work 20+ deer car crashes a year and have to put down a half dozen deer a year at work that have been hit by cars. This time of year is not fun driving where deer are common... Haven't had to work a deer into a building call yet. Wouldn't want to have to wrestle one, that's for sure!

I have always wondered why deer hunters have to be so stealthy to get a shot at a deer, when I get all the deer I want just driving around at night.

Send it to me Chris

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

As a younger man, I've had this same experience as the deer. I felt it to be a better option than chewing off my own arm.

My fishing buddy Sgt Schoen, Saint Paul P.D. Got a call to a lower level apartment in the city that had been ransacked, entry gained by breaking a window. They arrived at the scene and it was head scratcher until they found a tuft of deer hair on what was left of the broken window. He said it was a real mess.

I spent the last few hours of the day today in a tree stand behind the house. Not a deer to be seen or heard. I left to go to dinner, and when I came home an hour later there were 3 sets of eyes at the pond, about 75 Yds from the house. AARRGGGG!!
