Hubcap, if you copy the "direct link" line in your photobucket accound under the each photo, then click on the "enter an image" tab that is to the right of the envelope above. Paste that "direct link" in the new window that opens and then click on OK and you get this:

That green hue is exactly what you want to achieve. While clear water is really pretty to look at, it is most likely low on beneficial algaes and planktons that are important to a well balanced pond. I am not sure that you want to do anything more to that water unless there is some other parameter you are now trying to correct with the ag lime.

Personally, I would add at least 5 ton. Spreading some of it in your watershed will benefit the area as well. While it is best to spread the lime evenly in the pond, it is not a "requirement". The ag lime is just crushed Dolomite Limestone rock and it will slowly dissolve as needed over the next several years.

I may add more around watershed because the soil around here does need lime. Since broadcasting the lime into the pond I lost considerable visiability. Is this to be expected and will it clear up to some degree? My next goal is to stock with fish. I'm not looking for trophy fish just recreational for the kids. Any suggestions on what and how many to stock this .5 acre pond that is 5-6 ft deep?I do like the chanel cats to feed but will they keep the water stirred-up?
