CNBG PICS

MRHELLO,

Here are some of my CNBG pics. Notice the copper hue that the fish have. Notice around the nose and eye area the copper yellow color. And the copper hue down the middle of the body. I hope this helps some.

The Coppernose has a copper band across its head/nose in adult males, has fewer and wider vertical bars, has orangish/red fin margins and tail coloration , 12 anal fin rays and often light/white fin edges most visible when young. The Regular Bluegill has 11 anal fin rays and none of the other traits mentioned.

# 3 looks like a straight bull BG with the hint of lavender spawning color. A nice speciman. I wouldnt fret over having a mixture. I purposely put in 300 of both and dont see much difference in growth to this point after more than 2 yrs. CN seem to want to spawn a tad earlier; I hope to get the best traits of both for my water.

Hey burgermeister,

Thanks for the info . I don't know maybe I didn't get what they said I got. So I am sorry if I have been misposting my pictures and calling them the wrong thing! Either way they are all fun to catch and they all get pretty good size like you said.

Thanks again,

Well at this point I think it does not even matter. I am sure that I would not benefit much from the CNBG up here, that is if they could even withstand the wintere we get sometimes that are cold and ice over for a while.

Anyway I sure thank you for helping out and posting pics, we at least have some to compare to and I hope to put some more in later this fall if I can catch them to transfer or purchase some if I am lucky to find them.

Thanks Again

1 , 2 and 4 look like CNBG (Ark coloration) to me. #3 is questionable.

I think you are fine. If you have a few BG that should help in your location. It will add a few cold hardy genes.

They all look healthy.

Thanks Eric as always I welcome your comments and appreciate you taken the time to answer me! Funny thing is is that 3rd picture was the biggest of all of them and he is a brute! Thought for sure that had to be one of my CNBG because They were the first 50 I put in there unless I got a few regulars in my 50 that I stocked which could have very well happend.

Thanks again

Thanks James I apprecaite it. I think they are so colorful because of my clear water for one. My LMB have very vivid colors as well, but you can see 5 feet deep into my pond also. (Which may be a good reason why I have about 1 million lbs of chara in my pond!!!! frown )

RC51,

Where are you located again and how long have you had the CNBG?

I want to add some and have checked around and some places in Arkansas that sell them say they loose many under ice, but since people want to stock them they carry them.

Have you had any issues?

MrHello,

I have had my 4 inchers since June of this year. So far they all seem to be doing fine but it's not that cold here either as you well know. I don't think ponds here in Arkansas would ice over for very long. My land is in North East Arkansas in a town called Batesville. It does get a bit colder up there but still not for very long. I guess I will find out hey, but so far so good.

Thanks,
