I have been pretty much missing from the forum for a few weeks. When Catmando enlightened us of his exploits in San Fran compliments of Uncle, and seeing Joe and Janis in concert
it made me want to delve into my artistic side again.

What I like most about Joe's music is that you can leave some of the lyrics to you own creative interpretations:
Here is an example of that creativity: TIP: if you are drinking a beverage, you may want to put a towel over the keyboard.
One more tip; close the dang google add over the lyrics.

Ahhh, geeze. Deja vu everywhere!

As usual, I'm away from home. I'm in a hotel in Manassas, VA, near where we lived for about 30 years. Lots of familiar faces and memories.

Then I come back to my room to find this post, taking me all the way back to October 1969. Now I can't get the vision and sounds out of my head of Joe Cocker and how "She Came in Through the Bathroom Window!"

So Burger -- how has the BP issue affected your livelihood? And, what do you remember from your 1969 "A" school days?

Ken

Cat, what I remember about A school. Bainbridge, Md. Wave bootcamp. Pretty girls get off the bus. Next day; they all look alike. Just like us guys. I got kicked outta the 'club', I think for trying to enjoy a cold mug of 3.2 and some radio guys(di, di, da, da) were talking in Morse and I guess it irritated me. Nothing else to do but go home and get married. We came back and lived in an 8x30 trailer on base. AND WAS PROUD TO HAVE IT.

Oil spill really hurt the shipping in NOLA and H-town; ships going to NOLA had to stop at SW Pass and get 'wiped off'. Many shipping managers I guess avoided it and went somewhere else.
Starting in July, I have been real busy on rigs and seismic boats in shipyards getting way past due need repairs, upgrades of comm and nav equipment, and various annual surveys. Lot of time in Mobile, which gave me a chance to see about the pond.

I'm really glad all three of you guys are back. Frankly, I haven't seen enough of any of you for my liking.

Speaking of critical components that have gone missing...where they heck is Aaron Matos or Yolk Sac? Probably something as silly as working their tails off to ensure their families security. How selfish!

Yolk got hit by the Nashville floods. Aaron emailed me he's been really busy and planning another big cull this fall.

I hope Yolk's family and ponds are okay.

I stocked 80 pounds of Tilapia in his new pond which is rougly 30-40 above the water level of a river a half mile away...Yolk told me 2 weeks later his new 'Full Pool" mark had raised about 7 feet!

He had just finished building a beautiful little waterfront cabin also. No telling what kinds of fish are in his pond now. frown

Is Yolk near the Cumberland, or Harpath near Franklin? My son and family had just moved from a stone's throw of Harpath out to Springhill.

Or in his cabin for that matter.

I'm not sure the area he actually lives in....his new pond is about 40 miles west of Nashville, just south of I-40.

How big was his new pond, Rex? Hopefully not so large he can't fiscally justify starting all over if need be.

I could post a video of me putting Tilapia in Yolksac's pond and set it to some music from Woodstock. smile

I was too young to remember much about the gathering...all I remember was a family friend that went and took lots of pictures of the people. The one that stood out the most for me was a guy that climbed an 8' high chainlink fence and was hanging upside down, stuck on the spikes by his....uhh...yolksac. It still hurts to think of that pic!

Heck, I didn't think we were even all that AWOL. When you get to be our age, it just takes us a little longer to post, and we don't post quite as often. grin

But, thanks for thinking of us.

They were so desperate for cannon fodder in those days, that once I defected from the Marines to the Navy, I was given my choice of Bainbridge, Chicago, or San Diego. Growing up in near-permafrost, I chose the the most southern and sunny location.

We didn't have to worry about getting excited about new recruits on the other side of the fence. I started at the Naval Training Center (NTC) San Diego on Memorial Day 1969. The base was divided. On the other side of the fence was MCRD -- Marine Corps Recruit Depot. Like at Bainbridge, we'd see busloads of new recruits with long locks of hair. The only difference was that when they came out the other side, they looking just like us. But, they weren't girls when they went in, nor when they came out. They were NOW Marines! No girls allowed in those days.

But, after all that Navy boot camp punishment (walking around to get measured for new clothes, learning how to tie a knot, and learning how to shoot something with a "piece" and not a gun [which were only for fun]) they sent me to BEEP school -- and finally to San Francisco, where they taught me about life --, -j numbers, Smith charts, Golden Gate Park, transistor Beta, radar miles per microsecond, Haight-Ashbury and "dates", . . . .

Oh, the good old days. I was a CT, so I couldn't to go with all my ET and FT buddies to Altamont 1969.

da dit da --- dit --- da dit (No fight required - I surrender! Maybe!)
