My 3 ft' garden rake on 10 pvc handle has been raking muck until I re-invented a smaller muck rake with a 5-tine pitchfork with bent over tines.

Now i've put a pond noodle on the big rake to put a dent in floating algae.

A lot of it is full of small snails. I've composted it but Rule 1 of composting is no animal matter. It smells a little more than usual when I compost it.

I've used it around the pond to mulch plants--that seems to work well.

I've also just spread it out on the ground in my woods and let it shrivel up.

Anything else you can think of to do with it? I have yard waste removal weekly so I can get rid of it if I need to. I just want to use it in the yard if there's a good way to do so.
It seems like this would be difficult to rototill into the soil since it's so stringy. any ideas?

If you are composting, I'd keep on doing it. You're right, it is stringy.
