Anyone know where I can buy just a few Tilapia near Midland, Tx? I have an idea that they might help keep my stock troughs clean.

Overton Fisheries in TX sells them. They're a advertiser here and have a great reputation. Of course, nothing in TX is close to anything else in TX as I understand it and as Texans like to tell it, so Overtons may not be all that practical for you in the end! grin

Looks like they are about 8 or 9 hours drive from me. I don't know if they will ship but will check, thanks.

Good luck with it. And see?! You just proved my point - TX is too big!

Gmoore, if you're looking for just a few Overton's probably can ship but it won't be cheap. Shipping is pricey for fish! I live in VA and bought some lake chubsuckers from Todd last year and he shipped them to me. I ordered 50, he sent 57 and only 2 died. So I came out ahead... He'll take good care of you.

Have you seen any signs of them this year yet? (the Chubsuckers)

Gmoore, I have shipped many orders of 2-5" tilapia to Texas for just what you describe. Most go to high fence operations and are placed in the numerous water troughs throughout the ranches to eliminate the algae. 2-4 fish per tank will do a great job.

No sign... But I haven't really looked and to be honest, not really sure how I could. Maybe a cast net. I probably won't know if they took hold until they reach maturity and spawn. If that never happens, I know they didn't make it...

Thanks Rainman, I believe I will wait for next spring, maybe I'll be able to stock a pond at the same time.
