What is this film?
I'm not sure what this is--this pond has had duckweed and watermeal in the past but this is a mystery to me--some kind of film that isn't anything more than a film--breaks up when I put my hand in the water and I can't "scoop" anything. Is this the start of algae or could it be some type of protein film or some other plant. I'm baffled. Any suggestions?

That looks like pollen to me as well. Every few years our cedar trees go crazy making pollen, it blows onto the surface of the pond and floats. It looks a heck of a lot like that photo. Do you have cedar or pine trees in the area?

I seem to get a similar looking "film" on the water, but usually after several warm, calm days. Shows up mostly in evenings (maybe just can't see it in stong sunlight?) and goes away when it gets windy or rainy.
Not sure...
In a lifetime, the average driver will honk 15,250 times. My wife figures I'm due to die any day now...

I too have the same thing and I have both pine trees and cedar trees near my pond. They were terrible this year!!! That sure looks like what I have but I don't have it quite that bad.
The only difference between a rut and a Grave is the depth. So get up get out of that rut and get moving!! Time to work!!
