I recently bought a house that has a pond on the property, it is approx 35' X 35 ' with an average depth of 6', it slopes to the center were the depth is about 12' . I would like to install an aeration system. The guy at the pond store suggested a HIBLOW hp100 with 2 "pucks" on the end at about 5' . any suggestions on what type of DIY aeration i can setup. Should one of the pucks be at 12' ? any suggestions ? The guy said with that pump I can only put them at 5' But I was thinking one should be at 10' and the other at 5'.

Thanks in advance

The Hiblows are good for small shallow ponds but you'll be pushing their PSI continuous rating moving them past 7' or so. I think their only rated for like 4 psi continuous. Rebuild costs are really high on those too.

Lot's of other compressors available but they may not be as quiet. Keep that in mind and search "DIY aeration"

any suggestions on a pump that will allow me to go past 7' im not too concerned with noise level. Maybe a piston pump ?

You should definately put at least one diffuser in the deepest part of your pond. In my opinion, the best compressor for pressure ranges from 5-15 PSI is the Thomas 2660 or 2680 model. Some might say that a rotary vein is the best for your application due to the low pressures but in my experience the Thomas lasts longer and is easier and cheaper to rebuild.

Well PenaltyBox (a hockey fan eh?)

Since you are in Canada I will chime in.

You have a few options for your pond aeration.

Depends on your budget. A complete Vertex kit is the best way to go for an easy install. If you want to do some on your own, you could buy the separate parts and save some money.
I agree with Richard, the piston type compressor should be at the top of your list. Any type of linear pump (low pressure) is not designed for 10 feet of water.

Call me or David at the office for a complete quote with shipping cost or visit our web site http://www.canadianpond.ca
