Some of you might be interested in this. Especially if you appreciate your privacy.

There's a site called spokeo.com and it's an online phone book that has a picture of your house, credit score, profession, age, how many people live in the house. Remove yourself by the Privacy link on the bottom center of the main screen.

I was on there twice for some reason. My wife wasn't on there though. My dad, brother, sister-in-law, and a few other relatives and friends are almost all on there. It's easy to have your name removed, but if you want to remove more than 2 profiles you have to use another email address.

Good for you, I say. I think about a quarter of the people I talked to weren't listed. And the information is incredibly inaccurate.

My internet connection at my father's is painfully slow... I'll have to check the site out tomorrow.

I was listed. But it was a place I lived before I even heard of the internet.

I did however find someone I haven't seen since 1988. Without spending a dime. I have their address, sat. images, email address, phone number, numerous public records, where they work, who they are married to now, the fact that a parent died, and facebook. I don't think it took me more than an hour or so. Kinda scary.

Decoding the email address only took visits to 3 different websites, that is how I got the facebook account to verify identity.

I will never contact them, cause I don't want to. But if I can pull this up and confirm, what do you think a pro can do. I've never done this before.

There is a Kid I have never heard of (hope the wife doesn't find out about that one), Zodiac is wrong, education is wrong.

One interesting thing is that my house is worth more than a million bucks but it is a below average neighborhood.

I checked and am not on there... Thankfully! I've ticked enough criminals off the last 7 years, I am hoping it isn't that easy to find me. I can't keep up with all the new web sites coming out to stalk people!

My wife and I were both listed, and I was really pleasantly surprised to find out we both enjoy all the same hobbies, including "strolling," "knitting," and "arts and crafts." That was some seriously useful information! Probably because on my apparently meager income, with my million dollar home in a crappy neighborhood, we can't afford to do anything really beyond strolling! Suffice it to say, we should both now be UNlisted!

I think it is more marketing and information than stalking. This website only offers a clue, or a piece or two of the puzzle. Most are incorrect, but often have something correct.

Although I would never do this, I may be able to find you without spending any money, but it could take several weeks.

Most of it is generic info. But a few clues are offered. I think you got a pile more websites to try to get removed from

All I was saying, is that it is not hard to find somebody based on the amount of info available for free on the internet.

When I had my shop. I would allow employees with CCW Permits to pack some heat on the job. We even had a short range set up on the side with a nice backstop. Shooting was a regular activity and it kept a local gang away. The leader of the gang one Christmas Eve, beat a kid to death right down the road. He got life without any possibility of parole. After that, our finest broke the whole thing up, and it was peaceful again. Hat's off to the Peace Officers. \:\)

My department's average response time to a 911 priority 1 call is 6 minutes 6 seconds. That is considered very good! In Washington, DC not far from me where gun ownership is made a nightmare and CCW permits are unheard of, response time to the same call is 8 minutes, 25 seconds. Boston, 8 minutes, San Francisco 10 minutes... A lot can happen in 8 to 10 minutes! But hey, only people in the rural areas need guns to protect themselves, right...

Scary, my information was mostly wrong but some was right. You can see that they are getting information from other web sites you frequent as well as most likely some spyware. I regularly use Spybot to kill spyware on my computer. You would be surprised how much is on there. Every time I look there is 10 or 15 hidden spyware programs in my cookies that are specifically for tracking and reporting where you go on the internet.

OK, I went and asked Spokeo to remove me. They required you to provide an email address because they need to make sure it's really you who is asking, then they send you an email to finalize the process. I never got an email. Has anyone else done this and really got themselves removed? Or perhaps this is just their way of getting more information?
