Do you think that I will be able to grow enough shad to feed the gar in the same lake or will I need to make a seperate pond to grow the shad and then put them into the lake with the gar? The lake will contain gator, longnose, and spotted gar and also bowfin. I know that these fish are all considered predators. If not shad what other type of food fish would you recomend?

I think you will need more than one species of fish to fill that many mouths. I think you will need both threadfin and gizzard shad, also bluegill, fathead minnows, crawfish, shinners, and crappie.
