Might as well start a thread so we can keep all of the Super Bowl banter and prognostications in one spot I'll start it off: Colts 31-21
Just do it...

Not sure who I'm rooting for in this game still. Hard to root against either team. Colts do things the right way and the Saints are such a great story. I'm leaning towards just rooting for the underdog in this fight, but Peyton is just pure genius when it comes to figuring out defense packages and New Orleans DEF is far from spectacular. I could see a real shoot out.

A Cajun who died went to hell.
The devil assigned him the usual punishment...put him in the mass pit where the heat was melting others. The devil came back sometime later surprised to find the Cajun just sitting around, not even misting, much less sweating.
"How come you're not so much as sweating here where everyone else is screaming for relief from the heat?"
The Cajun laughed and said, "Man, I was raised in the bayous of Sout Looziana. Dis ain't nothin' but May in Morgan City to me!"
The devil decided to really put the Cajun through it. He put him in a sealed off cave in the pit with open blazes and four extra furnaces blasting. When he came back, days later, the Cajun was sitting pretty, had barely begun to bead up with sweat. The devil was outraged.
"How is this possible!? You should be melted to a shrieking puddle in these conditions!."
The Cajun laughed even harder than before. "Hey, man! I done tole you. I was raised in Sout Looziana. You tink dis is heat?! Dis ain't nothin' but August in Cow Island !"
So the devil thought, 'Alright, a little reverse ought to do the trick.' He put the Cajun into a corner of hell where no heat ever reached. It was freezing and to add to the Cajun's misery, he added massive icebergs and blasting frozen air. When he returned, the Cajun was shivering, ice hung from every part of him but he was grinning like it was Christmas.
Exasperated, the devil asked "HOW!? How is it possible?! You're impervious to heat and here you sit in conditions you can't be used to...freezing cold and yet you're happier than if you were in heaven. WHY?!"
The Cajun kept grinning and asked, "Don't dis mean da Saints won da Super Bowl?"

What's a Superbowl? I'd rather be ice fishing.
If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

Hee hee. Good one, Theo, and anyone who has watched the Saints for the last few decades would recognize that probability and have the paper bags at the ready. However, hope springs eternal even when tradition dictates that they fall apart in the second half. Whether or not hell freezes over, it'll be a game to watch. And how do you know about Cow Island? Pecan Island? Belle Isle? Little Bayou Go To Hell?

Southern LA is my plan B and like Theo' Cajun I am sure I could adjust to the cold.
I am guessing Colts, just based on the quarterback. Either way I will enjoy the game.

Saints 31 - Colts 28 I'm going to figure a high scoring game...... Here i sit in Indiana when my heart is in Louisiana. My home town boys are due. In respective, Peyton is one hec of a quarterback; Dru will have to do a lot more throwing and make some 3rd downs. Both went to Purdue; both are friends--will make for an interesting game, yes. I grew up down South Louisiana where Peyton's family still lives--his farther Archie has to pull for his son. Kind of hard to pull for both, so I'm going to have to pull for my Saints--it's their time, New Orleans needs this win. Either way, I'll be happy with whomever wins.

For some reason, I just can't see anyone whipping the Colts this year. Peyton can pick apart anyone.

Mark, Peyton went to Tenn- a lowly volunteer. He is a genius I agree. I remember Drew Bress well I proposed to my lovely wife on the millennium (yes I was the one). The next day Purdue was up something like 24-0 at half in 2000 Outback Bowl. He was on fire with touchdown passes. Wendy was not paying much attention after being on cloud nine landing a catch like me but I was getting pretty upset. I tuned it off for awhile when back on we had closed the gap and eventfully won by a field goal at end of game. Yes Bress is a good QB love watching him now. The truth is the defense of Colts better than defense of saints. Colts win 31-24.
Come on PBers stick your neck on the line. Theo good joke but what you say-your prediction.

Based on previous Superbowls, I predict the game will be disappointing.

Is Freeney going to play and if so, at what percent? This is one of those games where I'm glad I'm not a betting man, because there are too many variables in play here. Two weeks is a long time to heal, but we really have no idea to what extent Freeney's injury was and how much he's recovered, only that he has yet to practice, but is planning on playing. Their defense has survived solely on rushing 4 so they've been spoiled by being able to have 7 defenders in coverage. If Freeney's not 60+%, and I'm just throwing that number out there, they won't be able to pressure Brees enough and he'll find a way to utilize his many weapons. They'll have to blitz for the first time this year and that secondary is so used to having 7 in coverage, how will they react with single coverages? I think the turn out of this game hinges on Freeney's ankle. Yesterday at a press conference his ankle was still visibly swollen. No way he gets on the field if the game were today and he still has no idea if it'll improve enough for him to take the field Sunday.
In lieu of this, I will pick the Saints in an upset. 37-31.

Based on previous Superbowls, I predict the game will be disappointing. Hey now, last year's game was great. I didn't have a dog in that fight either, but the last 2 Super Bowls were real nail biters. There are a ton of story lines in this one and New Orleans is a real one, not just one conjured up by the media.

Well, I have lots of food stocked up for this winter warning and will b stuck indoors this weekend--but it's going to be fun, I have one last football game of the season to watch as I sit on my Sofa glued to the TV...watching my beloved home state of Louisiana (Saints) play against Indiana (Colts) where I live now. This is SO exciting for me! I cannot wait! dot

Hey, dont forget the nailbiter at the new Reliant Stadium; did all you Janet Jackson fans forget there was a pretty football game played? Panthers/Pats
Tough for me to take sides. Grew up in Miss. always a Saints fan. My 90 Y.O. mom will be 3 ft. from the TV with black and gold on. I went to HS with the Manning boys' mom. In the NFC game, I started half heartedly rooting for Saints, then with Brett giving it his all, I ended up disappointed.
I have to go with Colts, unless Reggie happens to break containment. Hope the Saints dont go after Peyton with cheap shots. Could be high scoring, could be low scoring. Hard to figure. Will prolly put some ribs to smoke about noon. Talk about.

The Vikings would have beaten the Colts. The Saints will not.
Die Wikinger würde die Colts geschlagen zu haben. Die Heiligen nicht.
Vikingarna skulle ha slagit Colts. Helgonen kommer inte.
Víkingar hefði barinn í Colts. The Saints ekki.
I Vichinghi avrebbe battuto i Colts. I santi non.

I have a designated driver for the SB. Good food, pretty high quality cocktails. Routing for the Colts because it is my DD's favorite team and need a ride home. Translated everything from German to English on Babel Fish, you guys are crazy!
Good morning Dave, I've checked the ships systems, and everything appears to be running normally.
