We had a great day. I got her a cake...  Yes that is a photo of the actual cake, we had a great lunch and a relaxing day. (Which is what Ricki requested that we do.) The highlight of the day was that one of Ricki's sisters (the youngest) sent Ricki a square pillow that was partially made from the fabric of a shirt that her dad liked to ware. She also enclosed a photo of Ricki standing next to her dad while he was wearing the shirt. It was an incredibly touching and thoughtful present.

i dont know jhap, i see a 50 and only count 8 candles, is this some kind of secret birthday IRS calculation code?  No secret code, it went down like this. I put the "Five" and then the "Zero" on the cake. With just those two candles on the cake it looked lopsided. So I added the two directly opposite the "50". Now it looked more balanced but the sides then looked barren. So I added the side candles to make the cake ascetically appealing. As it turns out adding candles to a birthday cake is much more difficult than one would imagine.
