My water clarity has jumped from a constant, since first dug, of 3 inches to a depth of 8 inches. I first noticed it changing in May, it was around 4 inches by the end of the month. The water has always had a lot of suspended clay.

I cannot think of anything that would cause a change like this. We are in the rainy season and have rain almost every day, from sprinkles to downpours, from 5 minutes to 48 hours. But, this happens almost every year. I might guess that the rain water is not mixing with the existing water, but some of the rain is accompanied with him winds.
Rainy season is approximately May through December.

I am at a loss, I don't want to look a gift horse in the mouth, but I would feel better knowing the cause, any ideas would be appreciated.

First reason that comes to mind is plant decay releasing some positively charged ions.

Had not thought of that, the plants are certainly larger and shed more leaves and with the wind, lots of the shedding blows into the pond. But, the other side of that is the plants are always getting bigger than last year

In looking at my paper work I see that this year has had more sub 80 degree temp days than in previous years, but that might indicate just the opposite, warm clay suspended water rising while cool clear water descends.
