I am trying to build a website and simply can't figure it out. Can anyone help a dummie that can't type???
Knowing you guys here and how wide open I am leaving this door....I fearfully ask...Got any good suggestions on a Domain name? Some available I am considering are 4BlueTilapia.com, BlueTilapia.net, RandSRanch.com

Rainman, I don't have an answer for you, but for a business name, I'd want something that has "fish or fisheries" in it. My fear is that if you went with Blue Tilapia or something like that, people would think that's the only type of fish that you had (or could get). i.e., Overtons, Jones, etc.
Brettski seems well versed in website development!! maybe he'll chime in when he gets back. I'll bet he's out of town at the pond.

The company name is already a done deal unless I wanted to add a DBA for it. Name is R&S Ranch LLC.
Only $7 for each "Doing Business As" but the names are not protected.

Rainman, sorry about that. My brain thought one thing, but the fingers typed another. I meant domain name, not business name.....

To me a domain name needs to have keywords that enables search engines to quickly find it. Google Pond Boss and find out how many companies are riding Lusk and Otto's coat tails.
It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

Dave, without question, this forum is where I started! I have already told Mr. Lusk I would like to pay him back with putting the Pond Boss Logo and website address on my Live Haul truck.

You should try to use domain names that have keywords in them. Remember, you can also have multiple domains point to the same site.
I have a dedicated co-located webserver for my various companies. I also host several business, ecommerce and personal sites for friends on it. My server includes a ton of stuff for building websites such as Cpanel (control panel for all your website settings, email addresses, etc.... makes it super easy for a newbie), pre-installed forum software, content management systems (CMS), support ticket systems, blog systems, shopping carts and e-commerce systems, live chat, search engine Optimization (SEO), etc. You can get a full site setup in just a few hours that is ready to take credit card or paypal.
I can hook you up with cheap hosting on the server if you'd like.

Theo, is that a referance to my tilapia or home town Pro Hockey team? Both could be deemed accurate! I was about 10 miles from you today in Ohio.

You shouldn't have stopped.

I say you shouldn't stop at Theo's mainly because, while they seem real nice in person, they go to the gun real fast.

Rex
I would definitely contact WG on the webhosting...or I can help you when I return from a quick NC run to visit a business partner. Will be back Sunday.
On domain names - in order to be found on searches I'd recommend using Tilapia in your domain - TilapiaUSA, TilapiaAmerica, Tilapiastock[ers], Tilapiasupply, etc. I would then use that name as often as possible when posting on any forums, it will help increase your visibility on the web and attract more visitors.
I am back Sunday if you want to chat I will help in any manner possible...sorry I've been so busy. I hope this domain name direction helps.
