Anyone ever tried this? I just used it for flies and it seems to be keeping them at bay.

I was at a deck party awhile back, and the bugs were having a ball biting everyone. A man at the party sprayed the lawn and deck floor with Listerine, and the little demons disappeared. The next year I filled a 4-ounce spray bottle and used it around my seat whenever I saw mosquitoes.. And voila! That worked as well.. It worked at a picnic where we sprayed the area around the food table, the children's swing area, and the standing water nearby. During the summer, I don't leave home without it.....Pass it on.

OUR FRIEND'S COMMENTS: I tried this on my deck and around all of my doors.

It works - in fact, it killed them instantly. I bought my bottle from Target and it

cost me $1.89. It really doesn't take much, and it is a big bottle, too; so it is not

as expensive to use as the can of Bug-spray you buy that doesn't last 30 minutes.

So, try this, please. It will last a couple of days. Don't spray directly on a wood

door (like your front door), but spray around the frame. Spray around the window

frames, and even inside the dog house.

Now these are Good Mosquitoes!!!

Did you use the original type? Wonder if the effective ingredient is the menthol, euchalyptus, alcohol, or now some of the newer concoctions have citrus.

I have tried Listerene here in MN against our state bird, and did not find it effective. So far, I use regular strength, non-scented Off, but I am still working on it. I have heard dryer sheets are somewhat effective. There are several threads on the PBF about this same subject. This is one of them:

I tried dryer sheets and found a mosquito landing on one. That didn't work.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

bowtech,

Dwight and I both had a Thermacell unit at our family fishing trip. They were pretty effective. Had one evening after a rain and no wind where the got on us a bit. Thanks for the tip.

I keep pondering buying a thermacell for early season deer hunting or just when I don't want stinky chemicals all over me. Just doubt they work and don't stink so much they scare the deer away... Others would recommend it?

I bought a couple after hearing good things about them from a friend that used them fishing in Canada. One would keep his 18' boat clear of bugs.

I'm in a treestand, with my feet 15' in the air. I haven't had a deer spook on one yet. (that I know of, that is!)

Good to know... I am looking at doing a hunt on the swamps of the Eastern Shore of MD for sika deer. In the early season they say bug repellent is a must, so I think the thermacell is the best idea.

I've used Thermacell for about 3 years now. I have never had a deer spook yet (that I know of like esshup says). They work if the air is pretty still. If there is a breeze, you need to find the best spot to put it so that the "fog" drifts towards you. I had my daughter out deer hunting during the youth season last year. Late September here in Indiana. When we got to the ground blind it was filled with mosquitos. I turned the Thermacell on and in less than 10 minutes, the blind was mosquito free. Give it time to warm up. It takes a few minutes.

Thread Hijack... As I was tearing down an old shed yesterday a friend stopped by to say hi.When he showed up I was looking at a HUGE wasp nestand naturally Im out of spray. He went up to the house and got about 2 cups of water, dumped in some dishsoap and threw it on the nest.I was stunned. It killed em all...instantly.They just dropped dead.Needless to say,I was impressed. He said it doesnt matter what kind, dishsoap always does that.Nice trick, huh.
Thread unhijack.
