What's the best trestment for pond sludge? I've been reading about beneficial microbe treatments.....seems there are a lot of differents types and brands, and prices.
I even read about one guy who puts Rid X in his pond??

I just wonder what others use....and what time of year to treat.

Rid-X is a relatively low dose of enzymes, aerobic, and anaerobic bacteria.

Anaerobic bacteria will never digest the sludge fast enough to keep up with the buildup. Aerobic bacteria is many times faster acting. You can add aeration and rake the bottom gently to rapidly speed the digestion process.

Fins, If you are looking for an instant cure in the forum of microbes/bacteria I don't think it exists. I have only read some of the threads on the subject matter and they seem to get mixed reviews depending upon various factors related to water chemistry. Here's a link to a good thread on this subject.

Link to thread about using microbes (bacteria, what ever you want to call the tiny beasts).

This thread is a few years old. I don't know if there is any new information to add to it.
