I believe these are some of the very best CNBG in the country, but I may be prejudiced...

Is it possible for CNBG to grow 1-2 inches in 6 weeks with an aggressive feeding program?
We caught at least a dozen 9-10 inch fish and I don't believe we had that many survivors from the fish kill.

If so they are going to max out my new fish measuring box ...

I think aggressive BG, with aggressive feeding, could do this, especially in a pond with very limitied competition for the available natural food. Your water temps were probably in the optimal rnage for BG growth during this time, right?

But I would readily defer to Bruce if he thinks differently.

Yes George it is possible and as Theo notes under your conditions is likely that some of them could do so. It is not uncommon for a certain % of CNBG in a good environ to go from 0 ( April yoy spawn) to 8 inches in your conditions by Nov. That is more than 1 inch a mth. That growth rate will slow or stop over winter. The second year growth rate in length will be less in age 1 fish ( 2nd year of life) but they put on some weight and girth.

Picked up 62 of these all male OTS CNBG beauties yesterday – brings my total up to 212 all male CNBG stocked last fall this spring.
Note size of ~1-year-old fish with adult spawning colors and even a copper bar and helmet appearing.
Prettiest CNBG I have eve see.
Overton has raised the bar on pure Florida CNBG hatchery production.

Nate, I hate to raise the ire of the PB Community but I don't like to clean them and Mrs. G. prefers her fish from the market.
Fed them to the critters.

Thanks Walt, I believe these CNBG to be some of the very best in the country.
After fish kill last summer, we stocked 150 of Overton’s pure Florida CNBG males in November and another 62 male OTS CNBG June of this year. (Pictured above)

I believe these CNBG to be two year old immature males just beginning to develop a broader copper band and helmets.

No ire, george, just a sense of ...

Excuse me, there's something in my eye.
