Found some pictures on my camera of the site before the cabin was started. The first picture gives you an idea of the layout of the pond. As you can tell it is long and narrow, Widens out at about 100 yards and then narrows again as it runs into the woods where the creek feeds in. The cabin site is right on the other side of the 3 trees and above the first aerator. The 2nd photo shows the excavation work done by my kubota. I have the BX24 with backhoe and front end loader and this little sub compact made short work of the job. Man I love playing in the dirt. The wife says shes glad I don't have anything bigger or I'd have holes all over the property.

Beautiful. Looks like a great spot.
How far did you have to run utilities? I have a similar place that sits a little farther off the water. No utilities or plumbing though...which makes it a little more difficult to get the wife out routinely.

treeplanter, no utilities either. I have a small 10 x 10 shed where I have a 6000 watt generator. Cabin is wired just like a home and this generator powers it easily. My water is from the spring that also feeds the pond and is pumped into the kitchen sink by a 12 volt pump. Cabin sits about 1600 feet from nearest power pole.

That's pretty awesome, if I ever have my own house, it'll be something small like that. Gets me dreaming......

Very nice! I love the porch and the lanterns.
Seeing your excavation makes me want to get a back hoe for the 7800 I've got. Digging with the loader is too much work.
