Ive enjoyed others photos and experiences on not only pond management but also the pond cabins we build...Here is my ongoing project started last month..

I started with a 16 by 16, no bathroom, no running water, built on a concrete slab cabin for hunting season and occasional stays at the cabin...not totally roughing it but not "wife friendly".

We dug foundation, water lines and septic system plus some stumps to get started last month.

Here was the foundation after I backfilled and stripped the forms and insulated the crawl space..

Subfloor success...real progress...looks a lot bigger in person than it did on paper..

And getting close to current date...the framming and walls going up..

And Sunday night this was where we ended up...

Here is the view from the new deck on cabin toward pond..

The new addition is 21 by 28 and will have a bathroom/shower/closet...WOW!

The kitchen area will be "U" shaped with Walnut cabinets I am building in my shop and Oak hardwood floors..one benefit of living in MO is access to hardwood flooring quite reasonable.

The goal if I can pull wire, stuff insulation, and get the drywall guy on board is to have it done by deer season opener...a LOT left to do but a lot of fun for an old retired guy.

Looks great. You got from 16x16 to 21x28 pretty smoothly. Now it's time to go for the dish and hot tub. Also, on another post someone mentioned that a big deck is really a nice addition. Run that by the CFO too. \:\)

Just do it...

I totally dig the project, Hpro. I really appreciate the quality of the work when I see someone take the time to pour footers and concrete walls for a foundation. Yep; quality. That tells me alot.
Keep the pics coming. For me (and many others), your project is truly inspirational.

Thank you...I agree that its not worth putting all that high dollar wood on something that can heave or settle.

I wish I was there helping instead of here at work. I would love to do the wiring, as long as there are no forms to fill out.

I had to splice the underground feed to our house about 20 years ago. My FIL found some crimp-on connectors to slide about 3" of bare wire into from each side. I solder-filled the crimp fittings after they were attached and used 4 layers of insulation (two shrink tubing and two electrical tape, alternating) over each of the 3 joints. So far, so good.

P.S. The spliced fittings are also inside waterproof conduit.

Nice project, HP. What are you using to raise the walls? I've never seen that up this way.

I rented wall jacks for 30 bucks. What a deal they are. Pipes that telescope and have a comealong and cables. One end is nailed to the subfloor and you basically raise it with the come alongs.

hmmmm....I can remember Dski and I wrestling with some pretty heavy wall sections; real character builders. Slick idea. Sure beats recovery from a bulging disc.

Its been a while since I updated with new photos. The roof is on and shingles and I began painting exterior this weekend. Probably switch to doing wireing and insulation tomorrow if I have a good run painting today.

Here is the cabin as of yesterday:

Here is an interior shot for guys who like to see the framing

How I envy you, Habitatpro - a whole empty shell begging for wiring with cold weather coming up. That's the life!
