when my pond was dug we loaded sand in for a beach area but unfortunately the grade i think is too steep and the sand washes into the pond during heavier rains... i wonder if i could fix this problem by digging out a small area for the beach, and dig it so it's close to water level and flat (no grade towards the pond) of course there would be a couple feet you would have to step down into the beach area and i would line the perimeter of the area with rr ties or stone.... what do you think of this idea?
MY POND: 50'X100' (1/8 ACRE) dug in 2006. get's deep quick with a trench dug in the middle that reaches 17' deep. i have aeration. i stock bluegill, bass, trout, and perch and couple crappie.

I havent read the threads provided by ewest, but if you can divert the majority of the water with a small block or railroad tie retaining wall, you can slow down the sand erosion quite a bit. Still plan on adding a load of sand every year.

You might try installing a gravel curtain drain above the sand and then key that into the pond and apply your idea. I would use pea gravel through the whole beach if you like. The trench should be 2 foot wide and same for the depth. Good Luck
