I finally caught one of the big bass myself. It was 14 3/4 inches long and 1 3/4 lbs. My hubby wanted to take my pic with it, but I didn't want to touch it--yes I don't touch fish. He had to land it and take it off. I'm sure it isn't the biggest in my 2 year old pond but definitely came a long way. I continue to feed twice a day with the automatic feeder. As much as I hate to say, I had to get over the taking care of the fish, to be able to eat them--we had a fish fry yesterday and the fish were good.

Congrats. I take the fish off the hook for my wife too. To her credit she did take one off the hook last year. She doesn't like the "bass thumb".

Chris, get a cheap pair of cotton gloves. With those, even my Granddaughter, the PRINCESS, can do it.
It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

I finally caught one of the big bass myself. It was 14 3/4 inches long and 1 3/4 lbs. Sounds pretty good on the relative weight. The RW chart that I have lists a 14.5" bass at 1.6 lbs, a 15" LMB at 1.8 lbs, so with a 14.75" bass at 1.75lbs you are right in there. My hubby wanted to take my pic with it, but I didn't want to touch it--yes I don't touch fish. He had to land it and take it off. You need to attend the Condello Institute of Fish Handing. He had my wife handling fish within the first 10 minutes.

To be fair, JWHAP was already used to handling you.
