My guess is a young watersnake. I saw a larger snake a few weeks back that looked like a Northern watersnake.

Wow, y'all got some pretty colorful water snakes down there...100 mile south of me and they'd call that a copperhead. Ours are dark brown ranging to gray...an not nearly so calm. 
In a lifetime, the average driver will honk 15,250 times. My wife figures I'm due to die any day now...
