My 1/8 acre pond has at least 4 inches of visability, I want to get it to at least 18"~ in visability. There is bluegill, warmouth, and 74 channel catfish about 10" long, I also feed daily. There is an aeration system in that I believe is 1/4 hp. There is atleast 1 foot of silt on the bottom, which is to be dredged some time soon.. Could the amount of silt have an affect on the clarity? The pond has hyacinth, elephant ear, and cattails, but I do not know how this could affect clarity.

Could be the aeration system is stirring up the silt. Hang on and an expert should be with you shortly.

Do a jar test. Dip up some and set it aside. If it settles and clears, something is physically stirring it up. My guess is the aerator.
It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

Ok thanks, I did the test jar and it did settle, so i'll place the aerator to where it will not stir up the silt! Thanks you very much!
