I am a member of a very good organization that helps those less fortunate. We have several projects in the works but we need the capital to work with. Among the projects are purchasing a piece of property and building a retirement apartment complex. If any of you know of a legitimate, honest institution that will raise funds on our behalf and not charge an arm and a leg, we would appreiciate knowing how to contact them.

I don't do a lot of consulting for non-profit organizations anymore but I used to. My suggestion is that you first learn the regulations that govern charitable fund raising in your state. I have attached the link below: Mississippi Charity Information Second, put together a prospectus about what you intend to do with the funds - - not just that you want to purchase land - - but what population you intend to serve, what services or benefits you intend to provide, a explanation of why that service or benefit is needed, how many benefit recipients you estimate you will have, include a budget that segregates general and administration costs, fund raising costs and program expenses. The more professional this looks the better. This will also help you refine your goals and objectives. My third suggestion would be that you contact any Private Foundations in your area that might be willing to donate funds. Fourth, get the local media behind you, that always helps. Just some rambling thoughts to get you started.

Thanks Jeff. I needed help so I went to the organization forum that will help its members. Again thanks for your help and I realize this is not the best forum material and I was stretching my luck. If you desire to remove this post I will understand.
