Does anyone know How much does a liner cost for a 1/2 acre pond? I was told that I had to put one in because they cant fix it. He tried 2 times. It sounds like he doesnt know what hes doing. Im wanting to buy this house but I dont know how much Ill have in it to fix it. [img][/img]

If you go online, you can find liner material that's really, really good quality for about 0.41/sf. It's called EPDM and it's made by Firestone. Then you have to pay delivery based on your location, then you have to install and possibly seam the material.

As you can already tell, this could really add up!

1/2 acre pond takes a lot more than 1/2 acre of liner, since you have to include slopes, angles and irregularities, and the bank. I think that you could count on needing about 30,000 square feet of material. That's 12 grand, plus installation.

How much do you think it would cost to fix this? By not adding a liner. I guess putting new clay down. The owners said that when that guy re did it he just sprinkled new dirt down.

Generally, sprinkling new dirt isn't going to have any impact on a leak. The usual recipe is 24 inches of well packed clay. Have you identified the source of the leak?
