Well I am finally ready for the last step in my pond project, the linning. To make the clay go futher I am thinking about mixing with my sand. I have read that 20% clay is enough to hold water but that seems skimpy to me. I have two questions for the group. What is a realistic mix percentage and do you dozing experts have a favorite technique to use when mixing?

In a recent post, the figure was 30% clay thoroughly mixed creates a good seal.

Bill The more clay the better.
All ponds seep some none hold like a swimming pool.
Water works on weight so most of the material needs to be on the bottom .
Have the dozer push and cut the dirt from right to left then criss cross the windrows, do this a couple of times.
Mix and blend until it is all the same color

Spread it evenly,then pack.
