Hadn't been catching much in the past few weeks, but my niece and nephew stopped by and wanted to fish last night. They were using nightcrawlers with not much luck so I grabbed a big ol' fathead from the minnow bucket and set it next to the island under a bobber. Caught a 3.5# LMB after about 2 seconds. Managed half a dozen more, but that was the biggest. Couple others were in the 1.5-2 lb range, and all fat and sassy. Ruger had hooked a micro-bass (mebbe 4" long) and was reeling it in when something else absolutely anihilated that poor lil bass. Didn't catch it...probably another hungry LMB. Wish we'd start catching some gills, but that water is still only in the low 60's. I guess warm water'll get here someday.
In a lifetime, the average driver will honk 15,250 times. My wife figures I'm due to die any day now...

That sure looks like fun. I love to set the hook and let my son reel him in. When the fish starts fighting back the look on his eyes are priceless.good fishing to ya.

That is a lot of dead LMB. Are you adjusting your pond population by taking out a certain size range? Did you clean all of those?

Here are photos from two other outings, earlier this year. I am having to do some serious adjustments this year. Anything under 16.5" comes out. So far the count is 257. None have gone to waste. All cleaned and in my freezer or friends. Finding people to take them hasn't been a problem. But the fillet knife might have to retired soon.

TEXAS715, can you refresh our memories re: the size of your pond?

The one time use lures with mostly red with a black fuse. The flavor of the month is the Zoom Bruised Banana.

I'm late I know but man thats a lot of bass. Thats about 30 bass per acre. What do you think you bass per acre was before you decided to start taking them out? What are you going to raise in you forage pond?

holy moly! I'm nearly positive that what's in our photo is double the total amount of LMB I have!
We've been "culling" a slot from 9" to 12" and we've only taken out 6 fish so far. ;-)
If you're too scared to throw that bait where the fish are, why did you tie it on?

TX keep it up. If only others would do the same they might start reaching their goals of batter bass growth. Why remove the redear? Just got back from black belt of AL, very productive. I told him he has to takeout at least 1400 bass , 16 inches from his 20 acre lake before we return next fall. He about fainted.

If only others would do the same they might start reaching their goals --- of batter bass growth. I agree eating a few LMB is a worthy goal -- but I sure didn't know LMB grew once they were battered -- do they also grow once put in the oil ?

Sure they will Sunil, IF you use Greg's secret bass growth batter----it'a better batter! Oh ya, to get the best of the better batter bass growth, the oil must be sun fishflower oil though

Just when I thought I had gotten better (maybe I have just gotten batter) with the typos. Glad my mistake can make you laugh. Ewest I still plan on picking up your bass on TH.
