That's funny. I grew up buying ALL of my fishing stuff at The Surplus Center. Maybe when I drive to my ponds next time I can stop in the store and look at it.
Holding a redear sunfish is like running with scissors.

Is that pump large enough for a 2.5 acre pond? would it work as a main pump? Is anything other than Hose, Diffuser, Electricity, Housing needed to use this pump as an aerator?

Not sure on the size issue. I have a double membrane diffuser on a pump very similar and it does a half ac pond very well and I think I have enough cfm to cut back on the double and run another diffuser but for me it would be way over kill. It will need an exhaust, pressure gauge, pressure relief valve, and plumbing . I am pretty sure this pump does not need a starter*(capacitor) and is direct wire 240v. My pump sits 1100 foot from my pond and has been running for two years(seasonal 24/7) I will post a picture of my pump later today. PS ventilation and a blower fan are a must for the pump life.

That is the same size as mine and I have around 2 1/2 acre pond. I have piped this to three air outlets on the bottom, about8 or 9 feet deep. I have valves on each as they enter the pond so I can balance them if needed. These air outlets are more or less evenly spaced thru the pond.

Anyone know of a source of air compressors. I purchased a GAST 1532 from C and H sales in 2004, but apparently they are no longer in business. The 1532 is perfect for my 1 acre pond as it puts out about 1.5 cfm through a vertex aerator I purchased at the same time. Also, I only have 120 VAC going down to the pond.

I opened the "Click here to view" page and it says it is used, but the page on the link says there are 257 in stock, kinda confusing but that is a great deal if it is legitimate. Post any inquirys you get answers too and I'll do the same. I think I'll try to call them.

Ok, I just caught this, on the link I posted the description is a compressor/vacuume pump, on the post by salth2o it is listed as a vacuumepump/compressor. Is there a difference in function, or intended use?

If it lists CFM delivery at a particular PSI, then it is also a compressor.

What a steal for $55. I'd jump on any of those for that price.
