Ok guys I have another questions about my existing pond. For some of you that already know, I have a small pond that I want to remove all of the game fish and have a place to grow FH. I bought a minnow trap at Bass Pro Shop and I have had a lot of success catching small 2-4” BG. I was thinking since I have HSB that are in the 15” range in my acre pond, I could use the small BG for forage. What is the best way of doing this? The only thing that I could think of is maybe crippling them (without killing them)somehow but still living long enough for the HSB to have an opportunity to eat them. Also, what size should I stop throwing them into my other pond? If I were to just kill them and then throw them in would the HSB be just as attracted to them? Any info helps. Thanks

Will not take credit for this idea as I read about it here. Clip the fins with scissors.......make cuts on different fins. They can't swim as well making it easier to be caught by the predators.

Thanks Chuck. I thought about that but wasn't too sure how effected that would be. I will definitely try it. Like I said, I do NOT want these fish to survive even if my HSB don't eat them. Do you think that I would clip the bottom jaw or would they die? Thanks again.

Lower jaw? Sounds kind of mean to me.
If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

Just pump the little pond down and seine whatever fish you can out and move them to the other pond. Rotenone (sp?) the rest.
Dont torture the fish please

There is pond management and there is cruelty. Your thoughts about disabling the BG ring cruel to me.

I personally don't like the jaw idea . I'll stick to fin clipping. Quick and easy. A nip here and a nip there.......back into the pond. Ready for predation.
