I think this is going to be a bad year for algae for me. I was just up at the pond pond and in addition to tons of algare groing in the sand under the water i now have bright green floating algae. Any ideas on an easy way to get rid of it without haring the bluegill that are nesting ?

From what you are saying, it sounds like Filamentous Algae. I am sure there is a chemical way to get rid of it without hurting your fish. I know lots of people rake the stuff off the surface. As far as the below surface stuff goes, I know that people use Tilapia to help control it as well as for extra forage for their bass. I am certain somebody will come on here in a little bit and help you out more.

Cutrine Plus should work well on filmentous algae.

Redears aren't even allowed in wisconsin!

Lake rakes work great for getting rid of algae around beach and dock areas, but require effort.

HOW MUCH OF THE CUTRINE PLUS WOULD I NEED TO TREAT A POND ABOUT 80FT X 100FT . THE DEEPEST SPOTS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE POND ARE BOUT 7-8 FT DEEP.

DOES THIS STUFF KILL FISH? I HAVE BLUEGILL ,CRAPIE PERCH, AND BULLHEAD.
DOES ANYONE KNOW IF IT IS PRE MIXED OR IF I HAVE TO DILUTE IT?

I ALWAYS USED TO JUST RAKE IT OUT BUT THIS YEAR THERE IS ALOT OF IT ALREADY AND I AM AFRAID IT WILL TAKE OVER THE HOLE POND.
.
WILL CURTINE PLUS ALSO GET RID OF THE SEAWEED LOOKING ALGAE THA IS GROWING FROM THE BOTTOM?

SORRY FOR ALL THE CAPS I AM NOT MUCH OF A TYPER.
THANKS

A dynamite combination would be to mix 1/3 gallon reward with 1/3 gallon of cutrine plus and a few ounces of cide kick II. Mix that with about 8-10 gallons of water and use about a third of that mixture every 2-3 weeks.

If you use just 1 gallon of cutrine plus, add a few ounces of cide kick II and about 9 gallons of water. You should probably use about 1/5 gallon of cutrine per application every 2-3 weeks.
