I know there are probably many variables involved, but what is a ball park growth rate for LMB? I put some 6-8" ones in this year

I am in the same general area. We stocked 2" in June 2006. We are catching some at 3.5 lb. now. That is the largest. Most of he original stocked bass are 15-16" and 2.0-2.5 lb.

Dang Ewest, I know food supply is mandatory for good RW's, but do you know if those bass in the picture are from the same gene pool and pond?
What I'm really trying to ask is that we know about "leapers", i.e. brothers and sisters that grow faster and eat their siblings. But does that dynamic hold true in a pond where forage is raised a full year in advance of predator stocking? Do you know if fish ranging in size like that are just inferrior recessive genes? If so, should culling based on RW begin after the first year of the original stocking program?

I will check. That is why age data helps.
Not the same pond but same location. Genetics unknown.

Hey Sgt911,
I have some AQMX LGMTH on order. I have 10 lbs of Tilapia and lots of CNBG. I normally feed AQMX 500 to the Tialpia and CNBG. I put in 6-8" native LMB feed trained in Dec 2007....most are now 10-11", but have had low relative weights up until about 2 weeks ago. Now they are near RW = 1, and some are 1.125
I noticed the Tilapia could not feed well on AQMX 600, but the HSB and LMB could. CNBG and Tilapia eat 500 very well, so I will continue that and throw LGMTH to the LMB and HSB...the ones too small to eat it can eat 500 or small fish. I figure the bigger pellets may keep the bigger guys filled up and take pressure off baby fish. Also thought about sprinkling AQMX 400 around the weeds/grass to feed babies.
Thanks,
Darryl
