My pond has been taken over. This stuff has covered at least half of my 1 acre pond. I cant fish at all because it is 10-15 foot out from all sides and completely surrounded my dock. From looking at pictures online, I kind of think it is pennywort, if I remember correctly. So, what is it and how can I get rid of it? I want to be able to at least fish a few spots and be able to see water from my dock. Ive thought of trying to hire a couple of guys for a day or two to just pull it out and pile it up, which I may go to if I cant do it another way. This is a very good fishing pond with bass up to 8lbs and plenty of minnows and Id hate to use any chemical that would kill off my fish. Thanks.

Pennywort is a plant of shallow waters and the water margin to about a foot deep, it has a fairly quick growing habit of trotting along by runners.

Usually its just a pleasant little scoundrel looking like a dinky waterlily in deeper water, for it to thicken up and become crowded might be a response to excess fertility at a guess.

If its practical to drain the pond a foot or two and leave the mud to bake in the worst heat for a few weeks that might kill it, the roots have a shallow rooted habit

Regards, andy
