A gentleman, Doug Stockly, will soon be joining us as a Pond Boss subscriber, forum browser, and, hopefully, a poster. Doug and his wife, Carol, are from Anchorage and have recently bought a home in Florida. Summer in Anchorage and winter in Florida (yep, life is tough).
Until they became transients, Carol was a first rate travel agent and Doug is a heating/air conditioning consultant and stock market whiz.
The home that they have in Florida is on a large constructed lake and Doug will be garnering information to create an enjoyable fishery. I know that this forum will become a valuable resource for the Stocklys and I welcome them to this site.

Please say that Doug isn't a friend of yours. Uh, he does know about you doesn't he?

Friend? I'll Say! Doug and I went for "the change" together. We looked great too, as you well know! You definitely were not alone in your attempts to win our favors. As if foxes like us could be won over by the aged. We both changed back when prickly guys, such as yourself, kept hitting on us.

How've you been Dud? It's been awhile.

Did you ever whip the algae problem?

Jeez, Dave...listen up and read between the lines. It's probably what caused him to "change back".

Hee hee. Good stuff, Guys!
The algae problem morphed into a comorant problem, Dave, seemingly overnight. My ponds fed about fifty of them all winter long. About twenty of them left after I hung out the "Not Welcome" sign and they were rapidly replaced by twenty of their relatives.
I do think I'll avoid the annual fish kill problem though. I dumped in powdered fertilizer about three weeks ago and already have a bloom. As I recall, you and I didn't get a bloom until late May or early June last year.
As you probably are, I'm beginning the year at full pool in one pond and about 90% in the new one so maybe this year will be one of the better ones.

Looks like I won't make it again this year, Sunil. Maybe next. Swimming against the current makes for slow headway. I'm thinking that Theo's floaties idea has real merit. When I first saw that picture I didn't realize that I was looking at a philosophical statement instead of a psychopath.

That many water turkeys could be the key to preventing a fish kill. I guess they could be considered somewhat of a tool.

No, we're certainly not at full pool. We got record rainfall and floods last year which ended an eight year drought. However, when the rains stopped in August, they stopped totally. Everybody in my area is between 3 and 5 ft. low. We got 1.25 inches a couple of weeks ago and 2 inches yesterday. However, run off is a little hard to come by when the ground sucks it.

There's a difference?

Not at my house, Theo.
Dave, I hadn't thought of comorants as a management tool. Good thinking! What a guy! If I take that a little farther, I could rotenone the pond this fall and avoid both the comorants and the fish kill! Problems solved!!
