Hello.

I would like to know if Smallmouth bass are spawning later than Yellow perch,
to allow me to attract them with light in my small pond.

First Yellow perch after Smallmouth bass, a small pond for Yellow perch and a small pond for Smallmouth bass.

A video to show what I want to do.

Normally YP (40-60 F) spawn before SMB (55-70 F).

Questions. In your experiences how well do the perch fry come to the light? What sizes of fry come to the light? How bright are your lights?

I did not know that SMB fry can be attracted to night lights. Your experience will be very informative. SMB can be tricky to get them to spawn. Good luck with this.

Hello.

I thought that all the larvae of fish like Yellow perch were attracted by the light, that they had a photoperiod.

I will have to make some test, or forget that.

Thank you Mr Cody.

Try attracting the SMB fry with a night light, however I have never read where SMB fry are attracted to a night lite. They might come to the light to feed on the zooplankton that congregate around the light. As I know and experienced it, SMB growers catch SMB fry when they form dense schools as swim up fry near shore .

They might come to the light to feed on the zooplankton that congregate around the light. That is the concept on all the night light/green light etc. products.
