I don't think so, but I'd unplug it anyway.
Agree with esshup, but also, there's a range of effectiveness when shocking, so if the light is not close by to the actual shocking, it may be just fine.
Don't know the actual range, but someone could chime in.
Depends on alkalinity/salinity of water. High alkalinity water makes the range absolutely suck at any effective distance...maybe down to 3ft in some cases.
