Fishing has been tough this week so I thought we would do quick seine survey to make sure things are OK. Things look OK, I probably need to thin down the large GSH. Lots of fry in the ring of flooded smartweed in the pond right now. Interesting note, small fish are absent in the seine net, most of the RES in the picture are in the 4-6" size range.[Linked Image from forums.pondboss.com]

Wish my GSH had survived. Not enough weeds back then. Looks like my TFS didn't make it due to lack of a bloom that I now have.

Looks like you got plenty RES Shorty.

Did all of that go back in the pond or did you cull some of those fish? The GSH? I put a few GSH in my RES pond last year but have yet to see any recruitment. The SMB may have been thick enough to have wiped the stocked ones out before they had a chance to spawn.

John, we put them back after taking pictures. My water color changed from green to brown about 8 days ago and fish feeding activity has been very light. We were just checking to make sure everything is OK, I have some vegetation around our property that looks like it's been hit with light chemical drift. I suspect something may have volatilized and and drifted from a ways off based on the intermittent pattern and how widespread it is, my tomato plants look terrible. Both the shiners and RES are spawning right now. I'll wait a little bit and then see about removing some of my large GSH with the seine net. My aeration system has been running 24/7 for the last week just in case.
