I have had bluegill nesting constantly since late June along a 20-yard stretch of sandy shallows in a nice colony of 20 to 30 football shaped depressions in my 1-acre pond. I'm not complaining...the spawn has been phenomenal, and my fingerling bass stocked in May are feeding like crazy on the fry along the shoreline. The bass are already in the 5 - 6 inch range and I'm hoping for some 8 - 10 inchers by the end of the growing season in early October.

Tell me more about bluegill spawn. I thought they spawned maybe twice per season, but mine seem to be in a constant amorous state? I know water temperature is a big factor, and we have had record heat in Missouri this summer. Could that be the reason or is this spawning pattern normal.
