Hi, my name is Mike and I joined because I may be purchasing a property with a pond on it. It is in Tuolomne County in California. I am excited of the possibilities yet apprehensive being a rookie. Is there any one I can call to see if this pond can sustain fish for fishing. Willing to meet anyone near by for lunch to chat. I currently live in Santa Clara County. Thanks.

Wow, so this is how it is? A left coast pond owner gets left out in the cold to fend for himself?

Mike if you are still out there, are you certain that no fish currently exist in the pond?

Is the pond seasonal or year round?

One of the primary challenges for ponds in California is water level fluctuation. If the pond isn't very deep and isn't fed by a spring, creek, stream etc, then the water level will vary drastically from Winter/Spring to Summer/Fall. In my pond it can very as much as 8 vertical feet.

Unfortunately pond owners are highly regulated in California. Stocking can be an issue depending upon where your property is located.
