Posting this because folks are being confused by online Indiana fishing regulations that imply that gifting fish caught in public Indiana waters for stocking in private ponds is illegal. It is actually only illegal to stock them in pay-to-fish ponds.

RAH, that applies to live fish, not dead, processed fish.

You CAN use wild caught fish to stock in your pond, but you still have to abide by the daily bag/size limits and have the correct fishing license and any applicable stamps.

Now if the Conservation Officer wanted to go down the rabbit hole in regards to the possession limit, that is a whole 'nother ball game.

Folks are seeing the online regulations that neglect to specify that this only applies to pay-to-fish ponds. Essentially, the regs are wrong. see this for the misinformation: https://www.eregulations.com/indiana/fishing/basic-fishing-information

That's why if you talk to any Conservation Officer they will say the e-regs aren't the regulations, you have to go to the code to see what the law actually is. I know, I know.

It's the individuals responsibility to make sure that they know and understand the laws. Now it's made all the harder to do with what is out there electronically.

RAH, re-read your initial link. It says current through May 25, 2022.

It's past that date now. So, what now is legal?

Do you think the 2022 fishing regulations were issued after May 25th, 2022? Update: Just looked last date regs were modified and it was before May 25th by months. It seems most likely that the regs are in error.
