we are going to be stocking a new pond in texas later this year and we have the option of putting in 6-8in bass in the fall or 2 inch bass in the spring/ summer. What are the pros cons to each and are there any negative consequences if we stock the 6-8in fish in the the fall. We want trophy bass that will eventually get to the 10-15 pound range. Will I get better maximum growth out of stocking 2 inch fish than fish that are 6-8in in the fall? We want big fish but also don't want to wait 2 years to start fishing. Any thoughts or comments are helpful. Thanks!

What are you going to feed these bass for them to grow to those weights? Read the amounts needed for one bass to gain 1 #. There are threads that go into detail . In a small ish pond you will probably have to sacrifice numbers of bass for size... I might be mistaken but maybe one of the pros will chime in

If you use advanced fingerlings (6-8 in)then the numbers need to be much lower. For 1.25 acres and a big LMB goal you only need about 20 fish. This assumes a sufficient forage base as noted in the post above.
