Has any one used America sport fish hatchery and purchased there tiger bass. Also would like to know your results. Such as how long ago where they stocked, if it’s been five years are you catching any hoss size bass.

I posted this on 7/22/18

Decided to throw a little 3' cast net near the feeder tonight in my new (last Nov) 1 acre pond just to check on the CNBG that I stocked in mid March. Caught probably 10 with average size being a little over 6"! No problems there. But, what really blew me away was the bass I caught. I stocked 120 American Sportfish F1 Tiger Bass 2" fingerlings on June 6th. What I caught tonight was the fattest, healthiest looking, most beautiful SIX INCH bass I've ever seen! That's 4 inches of growth in only 46 days! If I did my math right, that's about an inch every 12 days or so. Is that normal growth? If so, will it continue at this rate as long as conditions remain optimal? For background, I am fertilizing to keep bloom going and have tons of forage in the way of BG and FHM. I also am feeding Purina AquaMax MVP twice a day. I'll take a pic next time. I was so excited that all I could think about was getting him/her back into the water!

i stocked 150 of them in my pond in may/june of 2015. so that's a little over 3 years. some of them eat when the feeder goes off and about 10 of them greet me everyday when i drive up on the gator. those 10 take the largemouth purina and optimal hand throw pellets. those 10 are in a class of their own. i dont fish the pond often enough, but we weighed one a few months ago that was well over 5 lbs and we had just caught and released one that was obviously larger. we went and got the scales after he released the larger of the 2. i would say a few have made it to six pounds so far. they are fun to watch and catch, but my primary goal is growing large cnbg.

Wow! Those are the results I wanted to here. Looking forward to the pic! Did both of your ponds start out as blank slates? Or where there al ready fish in there?

JKS3613 and scott69 those are both normal type results with your conditions for good quality F-1s. ASF has good fish as do others and I have experienced the same results you report with their fish and those of others as well. The 6 inch fish is likely one that has the genetics to have quick growth. All of them will not exhibit this growth. In addition growth slows as a % of body weight over time. A 1 inch LMB grows at a very high rate but that growth slows proportionally as it gets older.

I did not get my bass from ASF, I got mine from suttles fish farm, and I have been tracking there growth since I stocked them every 6 months. here is a link for the 1 year mark if you look you in my videos I have when I stocked them and at the 6 month mark. the photo I have in my signature box below is a bass at 6 months that started as a 2" finglering.

That's a beautiful fish, and only one year old too, amazing! I hope mine continue along the same path. Have you found the Tigers to be more aggressive than regular N. LMB?

yes i started out with a blank slate. the cnbg and fhm had about a 6 month jump on the bass. the bass that take the pellets are shaped like dinsmores bass in the photo. very small mouths and football shaped. it shocks my how the color and shape is so much different from the non pellet eaters.
