(9/27/11) Invasive Piranha Caught In Texas
Posted By: Omaha Re: Invasive Piranha Caught In Texas - 09/29/11 01:54 AM
A buddy sent me this story yesterday and reminded me that one was caught about a decade ago here in Nebraska. Obviously a single summer season bucket drop so a pretty rare catch.

I remember that one such fish was caught even in Latvia too. Probably some freak released it from aquarium.

Now she's living in a local zoo smile

And there's no impact (other than to swimmers and fishermen).

They don't hunt alone and if there is only one or a few fish, they aren't dangerous.

They catch them every so often around me, obviously people releasing them from aquariums. If they aren't caught before the cold weather of winter sets in, they're dead.

Wow! The story even appeared in a UK web-publication.

These videos don't mean anything. As far as I know, they don't attack alone but in larger groups only.
What do we see in these videos? Caught piranha feels scared and bites everything that is put in it's mouth. Normally a wolf wouldn't attack people but try to spend some time with it in a cage...would you?

Rumor has it that Brettski was raised by wolves.

A more apt description would be that the wolves were lowered by Brettski.
