Hello.

Are there any members here mho have flood zone near the pond.

Where the water stays for about 2 months in the spring and where you can mow the lawn in the summer.

These areas seem very rich in food.

My bait pond is ~150' from a seasonal creek. It was completely inundated last June when the creek flooded out of its banks.

Best I could tell most of the BG that were in there stayed home during the flood, but I haven't seen even one shiner in there since.

We have a nice flood zone on our farm surrounding the live creek.

It is productive ground, but not in the traditional sense. There have been too many flood events that have deposited sand on top of the top soil profile.

The trees that are adapted for that environment do very well there. I am going to try planting some human food plants that are also adapted for that environment.
