Hey all the family and I are looking to start a campground in erie pa. I want to dig a pretty good size pond. 100'x50'x20' deep at one end. I want to stock lmb sunfish and maybe some trout. I have the option to drill wells for the water supply. Also I want to create a small manmade stream running into the pond to feed it. Something small like 5'wide 1' deep. Something like a native brook trout stream just for fun. How many gpm would I need to feed a small stream like that and keep the water cool for the trout?

Welcome to PondBoss pasteelhead. My family has a little campground experience under our belts as well, although we no longer do so, and haven't for some time. I could touch on many aspects involved in the day-to-day operation of a public campground, but as this is PondBoss after all, I would begin by asking you a question.

Is this pond intended to be central to the campground's operation, as far as attracting campers for fishing and/or swimming? If fishing is the objective, in my opinion the size of the pond may limit its extended viability.... depending on the amount of use it sees, and whether or not it is catch and release only, or if harvest by the campers will be permitted. You could be looking at a pond that needs frequent restocking if fish are kept, and with larger fish at that, or one that is full of conditioned, hard to catch fish if strictly C & R.
