Good morning,
I may be way overthinking this one but.... I want a green dock light in my 3/4 acre pond. Question. The Green light is suppose to attract smaller bait fish, which is suppose to attract larger fish. Question would adding a green under water light make for "easy" picking of my smaller fish that I should be concerned about? Could the green light allow the the larger bass to "Clean out the Bait fish" over time, missing up the fish balance?

New Pond will be stocked in a couple weeks. Mosquitofish (800), bream (800), catfish (200). then bass next year.

Thanks in advance.
Be concerned? Good reason to be. I personally wouldn’t add the cats at this time. I prefer to give the minnows and sunfish a year to populate the pond. You can add the bass and cats simultaneously.

My answer re predator stocking. When a bass can go to sleep with its mouth open and wake up with a full belly, it’s time to stock. The minnows will disappear in about a year from predation. That’s ok. They are used to jump start the predators. The forage base is the bluegills and bass minnows that are spawned.

Thanks for the reply, If the catfish are fingerlings roughly the same size as the bream would that be ok to stock now? or just wait..

thanks again..
I personally would wait.

We have had two large 30 watt LED green lights off our dock. It is really exciting to watch the fish at night. These lights bring in the plankton, then the smaller fish/minnows, then the larger bugs from the surface as well. The larger fish then will try to feed on the minnows. They work really well and are very entertaining to watch.

Thanks for the reply. Yep I think I'm going to try it. Now just to decide on which one..
See if this works (probably not so you'll have to highlight the link and go to it). Nothing special and not a green light... but it's a light that attracts bugs, small fish, and larger fish. Solar powered and cheap. I can sit and watch this for hours!
