Hey all thought I would show these few fish off. The first one is one that my mom caught. She caught 2 about this same size. I would say it's about 7 to 8 inches.

I caught this nice gill on a mini minnow crank bait. Some of my gills are starting to get big now I am excited!

Then I decided to put on a buzz bait about 30 minutes before dark as I have not caught any of my Florida strain bass at all this year and thought what the heck I'll try it. And wham I caught this biggin and had 2 other strike at the bait but missed it!! This is the biggest bass out of my pond to date. It was right at 18 inches long. I did not have a scale though so not sure what the weight was. It looks a little skinny but not bad. I was pretty happy to have some bigger bass busting the surface! I was getting worried something happend to them all.

Do you have both BG and CNBG in your pond?

Thanks Eric I know I have seen it too and I am excited about it! A lot of hard work and it's starting to pay off I think. It's been right at 3 years and it's starting to come together. Thanks to all the fine folks here that steered me in the right directions! Thanks everyone. Every piece of the puzzle matters that's for sure! I am figuring out it takes serveral tools in the toolbox to make things work right not just 1 tool and once you start to figure those things out for your pond and what works best for your pond then look out things start to take off!!!

Thanks again everyone!!

Hey Charlie thanks!! It was a slob for sure. I am starting to catch a few like that every time I go out instead of just catching 3 inchers. Should be able to start keeping some of them next spring for the table!! smile That's one area I still feel kind of lost in is harvest of fish, what size and how many?? I need to do some reading on that still. Cause it looks like I am going to have to start pretty soon.

Bruce asked if someone would convert that chart to inches and ounces for those who may be metrically challenged............

spkplug, that chart needs to go up to at least 14"...this is Pondboss not the DNR.
Posted By: sprkplug Re: A few we caught on Saturday! - 06/21/12 07:06 PM
I couldn't agree more! Unfortunately, I'm just the converter, not the creator. If you foresee 14" BG in your immediate future, I would recommend the Wr chart found on page 32 of the July/August 2006 issue of Pondboss. This was part of a multi-issue big BG collaboration between Bruce Condello, Bill Cody, and Cecil Baird.

It only goes to 13", but perhaps you could extrapolate the data from that point forward.... whistle

I'm not sure I want to compare my bluegill Wrs to anything those three had a hand in creating...I feel their data may be slightly skewed.

You guys are great.
The data above are averages of BG from various water bodies in the US. Standard weight for a 14" standard strain BG is 43.0oz (2.69 lbs).
For those that don't quite get their BG to 14" here are the standard weights for 13"ers.
13.25"= 35.8oz (2.24 lb), 13.5"= 38.0oz(2.38 lb), 13.75"=40.48oz(2.53 lb).
Let the growing begin!
For those that get your BG to 11.0" it should have a standart weight of 19.36 oz.
A standard weight 2 lb BG should be 12.8"long.

So now it's time to upgrade my Wr charts..... including the one in the console of the truck, and the copy that resides in the glovebox on the mule, as well as the tattered version I sleep with under my pillow, and I certainly wouldn't want to forget the laminated sheet that I had made especially for the shower.

I love big BG info.

Dang it man! And I thought I was excessive in putting one on my phone and one in the fishing shed!! smile smile

I'm considering special ordering some new kitchen china and having that Wr chart imprinted on the dinner plates.... Now that's a pattern I would buy........

I can't speak for she who tolerates my fish related obsessions, however. grin

LOL!!! Now that's funny! That would however be kind of cool to have plates like that around the cabin table!! smile A 4 piece set just for show! Too funny!
