Stand pipe support replacement - 08/17/19 08:20 PM
I'm looking for advice in replacing the SUPPORT for my 6" stand pipe. The 1/4 acre pond was built in 1985 and is 8' deep. A 6" PVC pipe was installed through the base of the dam with a 90 degree elbow at the end and rising straight up to the pond surface. This pipe is supported by a 4" wood pole. I'm concerned that the wood pole is rotting and I need to come up with another way to support the PVC pipe.
I'm thinking of using 3pcs of 3/4" pipe to basically make a tripod going from the pond bottom up to about a foot above the pond surface and support the PVC pipe at the top. I was going to set each pipe in a 5 gallon bucket with about 30 pounds of concrete while on land and once cured take each pipe with the concrete footing and drop in the water at each of the corners of the supposed tripod and then pull the tops of the pipes together and clamp together to complete the "tripod".
Does anyone see any problems with doing this or if you have other suggestions would be appreciated.
