6.30 lbs.
Pending new world record.
17" long, 20" girth.
I'm guessing a gravid female.
And an appetite for zebra mussels.
Good example of what can happen in extreme food rich conditions. Fish seem to grow so long as there is plenty to eat, which is why we now see 1.5 to 2 lb bluegill show up in artificially fed waters.

This works with people, too - note America's obesity rate.
I prefer to be a candidate new world record:)

LOL!
With fish, they hopefully grow longer & more muscular, not fatter.
Nice fish. Is it just me or can't i see red on the ear?
It's not real distinct in that photo, but I see a lighter edge to the opercule. That, and the body coloring, and the dots on the gill - it's a Redear.

Yep, that fisherman is built just like that fish.
Yes very likely a female RES. Dandy trophy once in a lifetime RES.

That Redear is not short.

All of the big RES pictures I've seen from Havasu appear to have female characteristics, does that mean female RES have better overall size potential than males?
Looks like the dude kept the fish.
