No lie, terrible situation all around for everybody.
Pausina said extreme heat can cause areas of low oxygen, especially when coupled with nutrient-rich water coming from the Mississippi River.
The Mississippi River is a disgrace for a country that is not a 3rd world country. Everything including the kitchen sink is dumped into it. Raw domestic and industrial sewage flows into it from hundreds of towns and cities during heavy rainfall events due to old storm drains that run directly into sewage treatment plants.
It may have something to do with the oil, but I bet it probably has a lot more to do with what Cecil said, people dumping everything and the kitchen sink in. Oil spills make head lines, but the fact that every year people dump what they flush down their toilets, animal waste, ag waste and industrial waste goes unnoticed...
We had a big fish kill in a river near Indianapolis several years back. Everyone was pounding the big bad corporation that accidentally dumped their chemical in. Never mind most of the fish killed were rough fish, and that every year the city of Indianapolis dumps in millions of gallons of raw sewage into the same river. Ignorance is bliss I guess.
Cecil, did you hear of any fish killed with the oil spill up in Michigan a few weeks ago?
