I'm jealous! The VA season starts two weekends from now and the PA two weekends after that. I can't wait, I have never seen so many turkeys as this past winter...

Well looks like you have something to look forward to. We don't have them here where I live. Southern Saskatchewan does. I have friends in Iowa that come waterfowl hunting on our land for since 1999. They are taking us hunting in the north east corner of Iowa.

Nothing better than being in the woods on a cool clear spring morning and hear the old thunder chickens sounding off. Puts a chill down my spine every time. I heading to my farm this afternoon to plant 600 shrubs and 100 white pines. Build some screens for my food plots. Then come Monday I will be in the wood for our opening day. Best of luck to you.

Well the wife and I had a perfect vacation Turkey hunting in Iowa. Here are some pics of the trip. First up is a picture of a deer hunters tree stand by a rock cliff.

This is me and my gobbler. Beard 12"-spurs 3/4" and weight 24lbs

We hunted with a Friend from Iowa and this is the gob he shot with 6 beards. 47" of beards. 1 1/4" spurs and 25lbs.

My Wife Sarah and her gob. 10" beard 3/4" spurs and 24lbs

This is my friends shop we stayed at it is build on a 10-15ac pond.

A picture of the inside of the shop. The geese on the wall come from our land here in Saskatchewan.

Owner of the land and friend Jason with a coot he cought by hand while it was sleeping. This was taken when he just cought it. He grabbed it by the legs and it was biting his fingers. It was released unharmed.

Check out the leak Jason had in his berm along his pond. We think it was from a muskrat. appox 100gal/min and big enough minnows were leaking out. It was fixed a couple of days after this picture.

We had a blast. Thanks Neighbors to the south for the hospitality.

Oh yeah i referred him to pond boss and he said he ordered an aeration system through site.

Congrats on a successful hunt. Those are some nice, NICE birds! Our season starts Wed. I didn't go Turkey hunting last year, but the year before I was able to send an arrow into one; 22#, 11 5/8" beard, 1 1/8" spurs. His twin brother is still around, and bigger than ever!

Good job on the bow kill. I wanted to try with my bow but my friends haven't done it much and they say it is a challenge.

Turkey by bow is quite a challenge indeed. Great birds! Nice to have a wife who supports the hunting! Great looking place...

Thanks CJBS. She grew up hunting with her dad and she really enjoys it.

Nice birds! I was hoping to get to hunt them this year, but no time. Stopped by the pond a week and a half ago when I was working in the area and watched 23 walk across the county road with no care in the world, and it was turkey season \:o .

offically jealous. Two short hunts no gobbling. Gobble like crazy until the day I showup, figures. i hope to go May 2 weekend.

I had an advantage, I used a pop-up blind. They never knew I was there! That was my first bird, and I hunted them like deer hunting. I patterned their movements, set up the blind where they walked and got lucky.

too modest turkey with a bow... you earned it. great job! Also forgot to mention those Iowa bird are huge. I saw them when deer hunting up there, but 3/4 inch spur and 23 lbs man that is a big 2 yr old bird.

I love turkey hunting but time of year where we are the busiest. I have tried after getting two birds to get final limit bird with bow, never accomplished and I had the double blind setup as well.

I made it up to my place this weekend. Turkey tracks were there but the only turkey talk I heard was from a neighbor 1/8 mile away. We had quite a conversation but couldn't get each other to come near. I don't shoot them. I just like to sweet talk them up to the house.

We both thought the other was a turkey with a cough.
